Warrior vs. Worrier
Last week, I was listening to a teaching and the question was posed: Are you a prayer warrior or a prayer worrier? My spirit was quickly convicted and I really had to do a serious self reflection.
John 15:7 states “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you”. So why is it that I sometimes pray from a stance of doubt and worry? Is it because I know those prayers aren’t in line with God’s will? If that’s the case, I shouldn’t be praying for it anyway. If my prayers are in line with His, He says it will be done, so there is no need to worry. I just need to EXPECT it to happen.
1 Corinthians 15:57 states, “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”. As a Christian, I am victorious! I have the authority to decree and declare, to bind and loose, and to speak life and death with my tongue. Therefore, when I pray, I need to be mindful to pray from a perspective of victory, and not of a victim. Yes bad things happen, but that should give me motivation to speak more authoritatively over satan’s plots and plans, not wallow in them. While satan comes to kill, steal and destroy, Jesus came so that we could have life more ABUNDANTLY (John10:10). That abundant life comes when we take our rightful place as children of the one true KING, and actively remind satan of our dominion over him and his schemes.
I don’t want to be known for being a prayer worrier. I want to be known as a prayer warrior. I want satan and his demons to tremble when I speak, not laugh and snicker. Jesus won it all on the cross and because of Him, my prayers have POWER!
